Be aware that email is NOT confidential. Please limit email communications to administrative issues, without including any private information.

A: Most sessions are 45-50 minutes long, with the last few minutes for scheduling and paying. Extended sessions are sometimes scheduled; they are billed proportionately. (for example, double session = double fee)

A: Yes. You may pay by cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, or Discover. There is no surcharge for using a credit card.
Q: Do you prescribe medication?
A: No. The law in Maryland (and in most states) does not permit psychologists to prescribe medication. Prescriptions are generally written by physicians, like your Primary Care Provider or a psychiatrist.
Q: What are your office hours?
A: Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. My last routine appointment of the day is generally 3 p.m.
Q: Who will answer my phone call or email message?
A: I will personally respond to all phone calls and emails, generally within less than 24 hours.
Q: What is your inclement weather policy?
A: In the event of inclement weather, my office will follow the Anne Arundel County Government’s determination. You can access this at http://www.aacounty.org/.
If you prefer, you can also get these alerts on Facebook at the page for Anne Arundel 1st Alert, at https://www.facebook.com/AA1stAlert/. (If you “Like” their page, the alerts will automatically show up on your Facebook feed.)
You can always call my office phone and hear an outgoing message that will inform you of the status of the office.
If the Anne Arundel County Government closes, my office will be closed. If it opens late or closes early, my office will follow suit. If there is any question, call my office number for the status of my office.
The outgoing message with the office status will generally be posted by 7 a.m. On occasion you may receive the message that you should check back again later to see if that status has changed.
Do not expect me to notify you about your appointment.
If for any weather-related reason you cannot make your scheduled appointment, even when my office is open, there is no cancellation charge. Please just leave me a message (voicemail, text, email) that you will not be able to attend your appointment. Follow up at your convenience to reschedule.
You may also have the option of doing your session by Secure Video if you wish. We can decide together if this is a good choice for you at that time. It is not however obligatory.
Q: Do you take insurance?
A: I do not participate with any insurance company. Most insurance plans DO provide for out-of-network benefits with non-participating providers.
I am happy to provide you with a Superbill, which is a statement that includes all the codes and information that your insurance company needs from me in order to process your claim and consider it for reimbursement. You would pay me the full fee at the time of your appointment and then submit the Superbill to your insurance company.
Medicare will not allow you to submit claims for services by a provider, like me, who is "Opted Out".
Marriage counseling is NOT something that will generally be reimbursable by insurance.
It’s a good idea for you to check (before scheduling an appointment) on what kinds of benefits are in your insurance contract and how you are likely to be reimbursed. It’s also a good idea for you to find out what if any pre-authorizations, referrals, or treatment reports may be required by your insurer.
